Hyundai Unveils First Car Models With Built-in Android Auto

May 29, 2015 08:27 AM EDT | By Czyka Tumaliuan

It's official: Google's first car operating system Android Auto is now available in the 2015 Hyundai Sonata for consumers to play with.

Designed to alleviate accidents caused by mobile use, Hyundai Sonata comes with a free intelligent Android platform that is well integrated in the car's dashboard.

"Android Auto aligns with Hyundai's core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity," Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski said.

The new built-in technology functions exactly like your smartphone with less finger navigation, and more voice-driven command control.

"In order to increase driver safety, Android Auto encourages people to use voice commands instead of having drivers type information," Time reported.

Using a deep, comprehensive and cutting-edge algorithm, Google's new mobile platform is capable of talking back to you to suggest alternate routes and music based on your preferences.

The Wall Street Journal Android Auto review showed how the connected Hyundai Sonata could instantly take you to the nearest place where you will find what you need. WSJ's personal tech columnist Joanna Stern simply read, "let's go to the closest pet store," aloud, and the system automatically answered with a list of the nearest pet shops within the vicinity.

It may also read your incoming text messages and emails. Amazingly, you may send replies to these read messages just by dictating what you want to say to your Android Auto.

Obviously, the car connected mobile system works like Google Now - the smart digital assistant Google developed that automatically delivers information users have asked for.

In fact, the new technology is automatically linked to Google Now and Google calendar, making your car automatically aware of your scheduled meetings and appointments ahead of time.

Moreover, other smartphone apps, like Waze and Spotify can be seamlessly connected to your car for better greater mobility.

Chevrolet has also announced that it will be supporting Android Auto in 2016.
