Floyd Mayweather Jr, You're Next! Amir Khan Boxing Record Improves With Win Over Chris Algieri, Challenges Pretty Boy

Amir Khan's boxing record has improved after beating former Manny Pacquiao opponent Chris Algieri via unanimous decision.

The match, held in New York, saw the British boxer edge his American counterpart in a 117-111, 117-111 and 115-113 score from three judges. This loss gave Algieri his second in a row after losing to Manny Pacquiao in November last year.

Khan's victory over Algieri is not the highlight of the show though. Amir Khan's boxing record may have seen an additional W but he is not stopping there because right after he was announced as the winner, he challenged the still undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Amir Khan wants to fight Floyd Mayweather," he said. "I want that next. I'm number one World Boxing Council [challenger]. He's the champion. So let's make it happen."

Mayweather Jr is just coming off a mega bout with Pacquiao who he beat via a unanimous decision. Amir Khan boxing record, or his career in general, will definitely take off if ever he beats Pretty Boy who now sports a 48-0 record.

Amir Khan is surely going after big names in boxing. Before his challenge to Mayweather, reports surfaced claiming the British boxer is close to agreeing for a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

"I just had a delegation in from Dubai trying to talk to me about a Manny Pacquiao fight some time early next year in Dubai. That would be interesting," the Daily Telegraph's Gareth Davis wrote a week ago. "One of the names they suggested as an opponent is Amir Khan."

"That would be a possibility. We'll have to see. I would think that Manny, if everything goes right with the surgery, would look to be back in early 2016, maybe in Dubai. I don't want to rush him," he wrote.

"Apparently there's great interest from Dubai in doing big-time boxing there. With the Emirate airline making regular flights from the UK to Dubai, it's a great place for British fight fans to watch a fight."
