3 Things Startups Must Know About Instagram's Call-To-Action Buttons

What's up with Instagram's upcoming call-to-action buttons?

One of the most powerful social platforms used by advertisers, Instagram is becoming more and more relevant in businesses around the globe. The social app has collaborated with various brands, startups and advertising agencies to build compelling stories that were proven to be more effective in brand promotion than Neilsen's advertising methods.

"Across more than 475 campaigns measured globally with Nielsen Brand Effect, ad recall from sponsored posts on Instagram was 2.9x higher than Nielsen's norms for online advertising," a statement from the official Instagram blog read.

Following this momentum, the multimedia-sharing app would roll out call-to-action buttons to enable seamless interaction between consumers and online businesses using Instagram for brand marketing.

The new buttons are action-oriented. Similar to Pinterest's action buttons, Instagram's new navigation pins cut down the necessary steps for consumers to shop, register, download and accomplish other transactions in the businesses they follow.

"This will not only help advertisers, but the community as well, as people will be able to learn about a product or service and then take action directly from an ad to sign up on a website, buy a product, or download an app," Instagram said.

The call-to-action buttons won't take you out of context. Pressing the buttons would open a mini-window in your Instagram app. According to TechCrunch, choosing the action buttons wouldn't drive you to another website or open separate browser; it would just summon a small browser within the app such that when you've done what you need to do, you can get back on browsing through your Instagram feed.

It's coming sooner than you think. Instagram announced that these new interactive setup would be running soon, albeit an exact date was not released yet.

"In the coming days we'll begin testing some of these direct-response formats," the Instagram team reported.
