Lebron James Motivated By His 3rd Place Finish in 2015 NBA MVP Race; Will King James Finally Give Cavs Its Most Awaited Championship?

Jun 11, 2015 11:23 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

If it is just the ongoing finals series between Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors that the public will consider, Lebron James will be the unanimous choice for the NBA 2015 MVP award.

But of course, this is just some fantasy scenario as the top individual award has already been handed to Stephen Curry. King James now has four season MVP awards in his name while Curry has just received his first.

Lebron James actually finished third in the voting of NBA 2015 MVP, behind Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden. James did not feel bitter about this loss but in a recent interview with former Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade at ESPN, James said the NBA MVP loss is what motivates him in the playoffs.

"Every day I step out on the basketball floor, D-Wade, you know me, I want to be the MVP," James said when asked what is his motivation. "For my teammates, for whoever is looking to me as a leader. I can't say that I wasn't upset finishing third, because I know what I bring to the table. I know how much I work - on my craft, and every single night.

"I can't say I was happy about finishing third, but I didn't need that extra motivation."

Right now, Lebron James is playing like the league's most valuable player again while NBA 2015 MVP Curry is putting his usual numbers. Three games into the finals, James is averaging 41 points per game along with double digit averages in rebounds and assists.

Cleveland Cavaliers are now up 2-1 against Golden State Warriors. Lebron James has to double his effort in the series as his All-Star teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have already been ruled out of the series. Odds are against Lebron and his teams and he delivers.
