‘iZombie’ Season 1 Finale: Liv Sacrifices Her Humanity To Cure Major And Blaine! Will They Be Absolutely Cured In Season 2?

Liv (Rose McIver) sacrificed her own humanity when he injected Blaine (David Anders) with the cure in the 'iZombie' season 1 finale.

Despite Ravi (Rahul Kohli) warning her that the cure he developed was still in the experimental stage and might have some serious side-effects, she was still desperate to take the risk. Unfortunately, Major's kidnapping stopped her from using the cure for herself.

Later on, with Major (Robert Buckley) dying in her arms, she decided to turn him into a zombie which only resulted in her ex-fiance resenting her for it. She then tries to take back what she did and gave him the remaining half of the cure. Will it completely cure him?

According to the show's executive producer, Rob Thomas, Liv's actions in the "iZombie" season 1 finale will have some serious side effects.

"They took a very untested drug and it will definitely have repercussions," Thomas shared to The Hollywood Reporter. "They have not perfected a cure yet, and both Blaine and Major will enter season two as non-zombies, as fully human."

Liv also decided not to give her infected blood to save his brother, Evan (Nick Purcha). He got caught in the explosion that Suzuki staged after discovering Major's "Taxi Driver" moment at Meat Cute in the "iZombie" season 1 finale.

Her refusal to give her blood will reportedly end up in a "pretty severe fallout" with her loved ones, most likely her mother.

According to the showrunner, Liv will have to begin next season "pretty much estranged from everyone else."

Thomas continued, "Everyone who was in that intervention scene in the pilot - Peyton, her mom, her brother and Major - everyone who was trying to pull her out of her doldrum at the beginning of season one, she will be estranged from as we begin season two."

With Peyton (Aly Michalka) leaving town after finding out the truth, Major basically rejecting Liv's offer of eternal zombie love and Evan possibly dying in season two, Liv will likely end up just like what she had been in the beginning of season one.

Thankfully, Ravi will be trying his best to recreate the cure. The EP assured that his quest for utopium will bring him out of the morgue more next season.

What did you think of the 'iZombie' season 1 finale? Season 2 will air this fall on the CW.
