Scotland-based custom PC builder Utopia Computers is hoping to take a slice of the couch gaming pie with the Hero. Utopia's steam machine specs include an option that allows it to deliver gaming experiences at up to 4K resolution.

According to a report by PCR Online, Utopia is aiming to include the Hero in Steam's list of approved systems. Reportedly, the custom PC builder recently became a Steam Hardware partner.

"Utopia's Hero machine is pitched as a 'console killer.' It can be configured to deliver gaming at 4K resolutions, and is provided out of the box with a mini wireless keyboard including an integrated touchpad along with a wireless gamepad."

For the uninitiated, a Steam Machine is a gaming PC designed to be used in the living room.

The Hero steam machine specs come in four levels as per Utopia's website. Level 1 is powered by an Intel Pentium G3220 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 2GB Nvidia GTX 750 Ti graphics card and a 500GB hard drive. Level 2 bumps up the processor and graphics card an Intel Core i3-4150 and 2GB Nvidia GTX 960, respectively.

Level 3 comes with an Intel Core i5-4460, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB Nvidia GTX 970 and a 1TB hard drive. Level 4 retains the same RAM and hard drive but is powered by an Intel Core i7-4790 processor and a 4GB Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card.

Regardless of which level customers opt for, the Utopia Hero has a 64-bit Windows 8.1 OS with Steam Big Picture built-in. Prices start at £599.

Apart from different steam machine specs, the Utopia Hero comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

Utopia isn't the only company to offer its own take on the Steam Machine. Already on the list of approved systems are examples from Alienware, Origin, Zotac, Syber, Gigabyte and Falcon Northwest, among others. The first Steam Machines are slated for a November release date.
