A new custom ROM for HTC One M8 is now available for download. Check out this step by step guide to update your 2014 flagship to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

HTC has been pushing its previous flagships for the latest Android Lollipop OS, and it has been confirmed that the HTC One M8 will receive the Android 5.1.1 update in August for Europe users only, while it still unknown when will the OTA update will arrive in other regions particularly in the US.

But for those HTC One M8 users who can no longer wait for the update, a new custom ROM was recently released. The Resurrection Remix 5.1.1 Lollipop offers great customized features and believed to a stable C-ROM, according to Team Android.

Users who wished to install the C-ROM must note that they should need a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP in order to flash the ROM zip, Google Apps zip files and unlocked HTC boot loader.(via Team Android)

Also, users might take note of these before proceeding to the installation process: (via IB times)

-This new Resurrection Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware has to be installed on the HTC One M8 only; if tried on other devices, it might get bricked [To check your device model: Go to Settings >> About phone >> model number]

-Make sure the device is rooted before going forward for custom ROM installation.

-Users make sure they have installed USB drivers on the PC, or else your smartphone (HTC One M8) will not be recognised by the computer.

-Installation of custom ROM requires clearing of memory in the smartphone, so make sure to back all the data by installing Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/TWRP in the smartphone.

-Make sure your device has more than 80% battery, or else there is chance of smartphone getting temporarily bricked if the installation process is interrupted mid-way.

-Though installing custom ROM improves the device's performance and UI experiences, it makes the company warranty void and they will no longer be liable to provide updates in future [users can restore warranty by flashing the device with stock-ROM].

Once done with the prerequisites, HTC One M8 users may follow the step-by-step guide provided HERE!
