An End To Emails That Got Away? Gmail’s ‘Undo Send’ Is Now Official After Years Of Test

If you have experienced sending Google emails to your boss or client with some typographical errors, the shame is now about to end as Gmail recently made the "Undo Send" option available for use.

Gmail's "Undo Send" option had been tested in Gmail Labs since 2009, a report by Entrepreneur.com said. During the six-year-long experiments, the people behind them reportedly warned that they could malfunction, disappear or get promoted on Gmail's dashboard.

But now, with the launch of this life-saving Gmail "Undo Send" function, it is the end of shameful emails sent to the wrong person and the beginning of new opportunities such as selling yourself more to a job application.

"'Undo Send' allows people using Gmail to cancel a sent mail if they have second thoughts immediately after sending," the official blog of Google said. "The feature is turned off by default for those not currently using the Labs version, and can be enabled from the General tab in Gmail settings."

The feature was previously popular in Gmail Labs and recently added to Inbox by Gmail before adding the Gmail "Undo Send" feature as a formal setting on the web, the blog added.

To be able to use this feature and take back a message you just sent, Gmail's "Undo Send" offers five simple and easy steps if you regret sending that email that got away.

Google Support tells users to first click the "gear icon" in the top right of the screen. They will then have to select "Settings" and scroll down to "Undo Send" and click "Enable." The cancellation period or the amount of time the user has to decide should they wish to unsend an email has to be set. Finally, click "Save Changes" and your Gmail "Undo Function" is not ready to use.

Google notes that if users have the Undo Send turned on in Gmail Labs, the Undo Setting will be "on by default."

"To give you time to undo, Gmail delays sending the message for a few seconds," Google Support added. "So if you don't select 'Undo' within the time limit, your message will be sent. 'Undo Send' may not work if you experience connection issues."

So, yahoo! We just hope Google will not "undo send" this good news.
