'Legends Of Tomorrow' Heroes Are Screwups Not Like What Title Suggests, Showrunner Phil Klemmer Says

The "Legends of Tomorrow" cast is composed of characters from "Arrow" and "The Flash". In these shows, they are just starting to build their respective public images.

Heck, some of them even have to start from deep bottom since they are working against the law. When the show starts, do not expect them to be as awesome as the title suggests. They will be tasked to save the world from Vandal Savage (yet to be cast) but the journey won't be smooth.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, newly-appointed showrunner Phil Klemmer says "Legends of Tomorrow" characters are not what the title suggests. Instead, they are heroes who are not sure if they are doing the right thing.

"They're screwups," Klemmer said. "Instead of tiptoeing through history, they're plodding through it, leaving their footprints and fingerprints and constantly having to wonder whether they're going to screw the future up rather than fix it... It's going to be total madness."

Among the members of "Legends of Tomorrow" cast are Brandon Routh who will reprise his "Arrow" role as Ray Palmer/The Atom and Caity Lotz as Sarah Lance/White Canary. Representatives from "The Flash" are Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, and Domic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heatwave.

Also part of the "Legends of Tomorrow" cast are Arthur Davill as Rip Hunter and Ciara Renee as Kara Saunders/Hawkgirl.

According to Klemmer, all these "Legends of Tomorrow" cast/characters are out to correct things but their personal lives and missions would get in the way.

"Who can resist the urge to correct the past or to investigate the future?" he says. "The idea of traveling through time has a caper quality to it, and that's what we're looking forward to. Yes, there will be the big 'try to stop Vandal Savage' [plot], but people will inevitably become diverted on their little side missions and when people are trying to fix their own timeline, that's when you really start screwing things up."

"Legends of Tomorrow" premiere is expected to be in winter of 2016.
