Major Scoop On 'Outlander' Season 2 Episode 1; EP Ronald Moore Says Jack Randall Ordeal Will Continue To Haunt Jamie

There is no definite date yet when "Outlander" season 2 episode 1 will air.

No need to fret though as executive producer Ronald D. Moore is generous enough to share some major details regarding the show's sophomore run. Not only they are already done filming five episodes of the second season, he also teased where it will pick up after the intense season one finale.

Talking to the Entertainment Weekly, Moore said "Outlander" season 2 episode 1 will pick up shortly from where it left off in their freshman year.

"Well, how the opening episode literally opens I won't get into, obviously, because that's just how we tell the story, but the story of Jamie and Claire in the 18th century pretty much starts with their arrival in France," he said.

"The big story point picks up from where we left season 1, which is Claire and Jamie deciding to attempt to change history by stopping the Jacobite rebellion and changing history so as to prevent the slaughter on Culloden Moor and the destruction of the Highland culture after it. That's the major plot going into the season."

Fans cannot expect Jamie (Sam Heughan) to be on a stable condition though. The lead character went through severe ordeal after getting caught by Jack Randall. He was tortured and raped - and that will linger until the second season.

"It definitely colors his character throughout. It's not at the forefront of the story, but it's a pretty big character story for him, so the after-effects of that and the reverberations through their relationship does carry forward well into the season," Moore explained.

There is no title for "Outlander" season 2 episode 1 yet. Definite details about the premiere is that it will take place outside of Scotland. Last season, Jamie and wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) set sail to France after escaping Randall who was killed by bulls.
