F1's Suzi Perry As ‘Top Gear’ New Host? It’s Up To Chris Evans, BBC; Says She Turned Down Role At Motoring Show 10 Years Ago

Formula 1 host Suzi Perry said that she's 'in the mix' as "Top Gear" new host but whether she gets the job or not is up to the BBC and its current host Chris Evans. She also said she has turned down a hosting gig for the motoring show when it was reformatted a decade ago.

"The TV host and former model was quizzed about the recent rumors by Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden on [ITV's] 'This Morning,'" The Mirror wrote.

"I believe so," she replied when asked if she was "in the mix" as the motoring show's new host. However, she added that the decision would come from BBC Two and host Chris Evans.

Perry, 45, was also apprehensive about being "Top Gear's" new host due to her busy schedule.

"But I'm away 20 weeks a year doing Formula One, so unless someone has invented 48 hours in a day - which may be (looking at Schofield) - you have actually! You know, it would be pretty tough I think for me to do it."

It wouldn't be the first time she's in the running to host the motoring show. Perry revealed she turned down the job a decade ago when it was reformatted with Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond - a move she called a "bad decision."

"If it [had been] those three I would have probably jumped aboard. Jeremy wasn't on board at the time and there was a lot of talk about it and I was very much in MotoGP at the time and I just think I could do it," she said according to The Daily Mail.

Perry is among many rumored to be "Top Gear" new host along with Jodie Kidd, Dermot O'Leary and Sue Perkins. Chris Evans took over from Clarkson after the latter was dismissed after a "fracas" with a producer. Co-presenters May and Hammond declined to renew their contract thereafter.

The three are reportedly working a new show with ITV and Netflix, among others, lining up to sign them on. An announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

Evan's "Top Gear" is expected to return later this year.
