After more than 10 years of waiting fans will finally get to see the sequel to "Finding Nemo" titled "Finding Dory" make a splash in cinemas next year.

While the wait is not yet over, there have been rumors claiming that the much-anticipated sequel to Pixar's one of most successful animated films is reportedly going to present its first ever trailer at D23 Expo.

According to Hypable, the trailer will make its debut at Disney's Annual Fan Convention in Anaheim, Calif., which will start on Aug. 14 and ends on Aug. 16.

Reportedly the event is titled "Every Story Is a Journey: The Upcoming Films of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios," and it will be hosted by John Lasseter, Pixar's CCO, who is scheduled to introduce the trailers of "Finding Nemo's" sequel "Finding Dory," "The Good Dinosaur" and "Zootopia and Moana."

"Filmmakers will unveil never-before-seen footage from Pixar's upcoming The Good Dinosaurand Finding Dory and Disney Animation's Zootopia and Moana. The event will include surprise announcements, musical performances, and appearances by the films' star voice talent," Disney reportedly said.

And while not much has been revealed about the story's plot, VC Post reported that the sequel will be set six months following the events in "Finding Nemo" and it will be "based on Gabriela Cowperthwaite's documentary about Seaworld, entitled 'Blackfish.'"

While it's not clear if it'll be shown in the trailer already, Dory is apparently going to return to the "institute" (Marine Biology Institute of California) where she was born to find out where her parents are.

"In her journey, she will reportedly come across a giant squid, a kelp forest, falling shipping containers, and a whale shark," the publication added.

Nemo's role in the sequel has yet to be revealed though, since Comic Book Movie reported that the entire story of "Finding Dory" will embark in the adventures of the forgetful blue tang fish and Marlin.

Movie Pilot added that additional characters will definitely be introduced in the sequel of "Finding Nemo" including an octopus, sea lions and a beluga whale.

The online publication also mentioned that "Modern Family" star Ty Burrell will be playing Bailey, the beluga whale. The sequel also includes "The Wire" stars Dominic West and Idris Alba, but details about what character they would be playing has yet to be announced.

According to Shortlist.com, West announced that he will be reuniting with his co-star Alba in "Finding Dory" saying,

"I saw Idris recently. We're both in the sequel to 'Finding Nemo,'" West revealed.

Joining Burell, West and Elba are returning cast members Albert Brooks as Marlin the clown fish, Willem Dafoe as Gill, Vicki Lewis as Deb and her sister Flo and Ellen De Generes as Dory.

"Something's Gotta Give" actress Diane Keaton and "American Pie" actor Eugene Levy will be playing Dory's "lost" parents.

"Finding Dory" is set to take a plunge on June 17, 2016 in celebration of Pixar's 30th anniversary.
