John McAfee: 'I'm Free', Gets Deported to the US from Guatemala

John McAfee, a former Silicon Valley millionaire who is wanted for questioning in Belize over the murder of a fellow American, has been handed deportation papers from Guatemala.

According to the Associated Press, Guatemalan immigration officials have escorted McAfee to the Guatemala City airport where he is boarding a plane to Miami, Florida.

McAfee said "I'm free, I'm going to America."

McAfee, 67, had been held for a week by immigration officials in Guatemala, where he illegally sneaked into the country from Belize and stayed there for nearly a month until he was caught. He had snuck into the country with his 20-year-old girlfriend. After he was caught and arrested, he suffered a heart attack before being sent to prison.

He was running away from Belize officials who want to take him in for questioning regarding the murder of his neighbor in the Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye, Gregory Faull who is also American.

"Complying with migration law, Mr. John McAfee is to be deported to his country of origin," said Fernando Lucero, a spokesman for Guatemala's immigration office, according to Reuters.

Faull was found shot in the head in his house on the resort island of San Pedro. McAfee has denied any role in Faull's killing and said he is being persecuted by Belize's ruling party for refusing to pay some $2 million in bribes.

According to McAfee, Guerra is also the uncle of McAfee's girlfriend, Samantha Venegas. McAfee said the government raided his beachfront home and threatened Samantha's family.

McAfee claimed Belize authorities will kill him if he turns himself in for questioning.

McAfee, the creator of the McAfee antivirus program, has led an eccentric life since he sold his stake in the anti-virus software company that is named after him in the early 1990s and moved to Belize about three years ago to lower his taxes.
