Bendis On ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ Netflix Series: ‘Just Like The Comics On Their Best Day’

Fans shouldn't' worry if the "Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix series would live up to its source material, or even "Daredevil," as co-creator Brian Michael Bendis himself gave it his stamp of approval.

Along with artist Michael Gaydos, Bendis is the co-creator of the 2001 "Alias" comic book series upon which the Netflix series is based. As such, a fan asked the writer if he was at any point consulted on regarding the show which focused on a character he helped bring to life.

"The show is so good. I have seen the first couple of episodes and because I didn't work on it directly, I can say this with full no-ego fanfare: I loved it!," Bendis said in his official Tumblr page.

The five-time Eisner Award winner assured fans that he's not just promoting his own work and is actually "going to be hardest on it."

"Jessica is a part of [his] DNA" he said adding, "a bad 'Jessica Jones' [series] would have hurt [him] deeply."

"Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix series is shaping up to be as action-packed as "Daredevil" and looks to be "faithful and lively" like its source material, according to Bendis.

"The mean streets of Marvel Netflix from a different perspective than [Matt Murdock's] but at the same time... it all fits. Just like the comics on their best day. And just like Netflix DD, the look of the show is cracklin' noir but with its own palette."

Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb earlier described "Jessica Jones" as "a psychological thriller" with the same look and feel as the Charlie Cox-led "Daredevil."

The 47-year-old comic book writer praised Krysten Ritter's portrayal of the superhero-turned-private-detective Jessica Jones as "soooo good" as well as Michael Colter as Power Man a.k.a. Luke Cage.

"The casting of Luke Cage, in my opinion, and have said this to everyone behind the scenes, is as strong and spot on as the casting of Tony Stark. It's probably the hardest to cast and they got it. Perfect."

"Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix series is set to premiere later this year, and if rumors are true, fans may see a familiar "Daredevil" character appear on the show.
