Country Singer Chely Wright and her partner, Lauren Blizter-Wright, are pregnant and are expecting identical twins, the happy couple said Wednesday.
Wright, 42, is expecting twins with wife Blitzer, 31, the pair announced on Howard Bragman's YouTube show,"Gwissues."
"Before we finish, is there anything else we should know about?" Bragman asked the pair.
"Well, we have this small thing going on," Blitzer said. "A couple of things, in fact," Wright interjected.
"Howard, we wanted to share with you first," Wright said. "We wanted to let you know that we are expecting, we are pregnant ... identical twins. They're due in July, but with identical twins, you typically have to do it about a month early. So, we are expecting that I will be as big as a bus, or an A-frame house, by around June."
Wright married Blitzer, 31, the Director of Marketing at Sony Music Entertainment, in August 2011. "When gay couples have babies it's logistically a little different than when straight people have babies as we all know," Wright, who came out as gay to the public in 2010, explained to Bragman. And Blitzer-Wright added that it's been an "amazing learning experience."
"We're excited to be parents," Wright added. "We hope we don't mess it up too badly."
"We feel like God blessed us with twins," she said. "We feel our entire relationship has been blessed. We feel lucky and ready to take on the challenges."
Wright released her new album, "Lifted Off the Ground," in May 2010, after she came out. The singer said in January 2011 that her country music career has suffered and that her life has been threatened since she came out publicly.
