Kobe Bryant In Olympics 2016? USA Basketball Team Director Says He Could Still Be In Final Line Up

NBA fans have been arguing whether Kobe Bryant still has some gas left in his tank.

The Los Angeles Lakers star is entering his 19th season this year. He played relentlessly right from the time he entered the professional basketball court.

The past years have worn him out but many fans think the 37-year basketball superstar still has a few good years left. In fact, one official close to the USA Basketball team is thinking of having him for the 2016 Olympics.

Sherinda Hoops reported USA Basketball Executive Director Jerry Colangelo wants Kobe Bryant in the final team. Around 34 men showed up in USA team's training camp including Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant. Bryant was not there but Colangelo thinks the Los Angeles Lakers could make the team.

"Kobe Bryant has a chance to be a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team, even though he is not attending Team USA's minicamp this week, USA Basketball Executive Director Jerry Colangelo told SheridanHoops Tuesday."

Colangelo thinks 2016 Olympics and a gold medal is the best way Kobe Bryant can end his career. In fact, they already had discussion about the matter.

"Bryant and Colangelo actually discussed the possibility in June during an NBA/USAB sponsorship conference in New York. Colangelo made no promises or guarantees, but made it clear to Bryant that if he is able to compete at a high level during the 2015-16 season, the door will be open for him to return to Team USA," Sheridan Hoops added in its report.

Although Colangelo likes the idea of having Kobe Bryant in the USA National basketball team for the 2016 Olympics, he acknowledges the competition to make the squad will be tough for the Black Mamba.

Kobe Bryant is part of the gold-winning 2008 Olympics team along side Lebron, Dwyane Wade, Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Michael Redd, Tayshaun Prince, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, and Jason Kidd. He is also one of the leaders of the 2012 Olympic Team which also won the gold.

In the NBA, Kobe Bryant won five NBA Championships, one season MVP, and two NBA Finals MVP.
