The last time all the Mikaelson siblings (before Freya was introduced) were in a room together, their mother was killed.
Will someone else die in the reported impending family reunion for "The Originals" season 3?
The show's executive producer, Michael Narducci reportedly revealed to E! News that Rebekah, Finn and Kol will be coming back next season for some flashbacks.
Their presence is going to hopefully fill in the missing pieces for the new sire line mythology that will likely become the main plot point next season.
"Aurora is part of Rebekah's sire line," the showrunner told the entertainment news site. "So we'll get to see some flashbacks between Rebekah and Aurora, and we'll also get to see Aurora come to our present day New Orleans and wreak some fun havoc. Absolutely, that means that Claire [Holt] is returning. In flashbacks, it would have to be Claire."
Meanwhile, Narducci previously explained Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) and Finn's (Casper Zafer) return for "The Originals" season 3 flashbacks as well.
"[It's] a flashback that we've never seen before," Moviepilot quoted the producer as saying about the upcoming reunion.
"We've always understood that the Mikaelson family, the brothers and sister, had to flee in the wake of Esther's death by Klaus' hands. Klaus blamed Mikael and said, 'We have to go. Our father is insane,' and for a very long time Mikael chased them."
He added, "So wouldn't it be cool to see the family not long after that? What was their state of mind? What were their relationships like? How did they relate to one another knowing Mikael was out there somewhere, and they're relatively new vampires so what was their existence like? I think it might be surprising and interesting."
While Claire Holt officially stepped down from the series in season one, both Casper Zafer and Nathaniel Buzolic were killed off (for the first time) in "The Vampire Diaries" before the spinoff even started. Nevertheless, they still return once in a while for some flashbacks and even real-time action.
"It means a lot that they all still want to come back," Narducci told E! News. "We have had so many great actors that you will see again in flashbacks in the first episode. I love those guys."
