Hip-hop icon, Dr. Dre says "sorry" to past girlfriends that he has physically abused years ago This following the success of N.W.A.'s (Dre's hip-hop group) biopic, "Straight Outta Compton."

"Straight Outta Compton" earned about $60 million on its opening week, as well as the praise of many people for its emotion and rawness.

But with the praises, comes criticism as well - the movie is also being slapped with being untruthful or at least, being picky on its depiction of Dr. Dre (real name Andre Young).

According to critics, it dismisses the 50-year-old hip-hop billionaire's past filled with physical abuse towards women.

To finally address the issue, Dr. Dre, in statement, apologized to the women that he has hurt.

"I apologize to the women I've hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives," Dr. Dre said.

"Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life," he explained. "However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I've been married for 19 years and every day I'm working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way."

He added: "I'm doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again."

Apple had also broken its silence over the allegations involving Dr. Dre, who works in the company as an executive after the tech giant purchased Beats, which Dre helped establish, for $3 million.

"Dre has apologized for the mistakes he's made in the past and he's said that he's not the same person that he was 25 years ago," Apple's statement said. "We believe his sincerity and after working with him for a year and a half, we have every reason to believe that he has changed."

Previously, Dee Barnes, a woman whom Dre allegedly abused in the past, recounted the assault, which happened in a nightclub bathroom after hosting a show on Fox with a segment that showed rapper Ice Cube insulting his N.W.A. colleagues, according to Business Insider.

"Dr. Dre straddled me and beat me mercilessly on the floor of the women's restroom at the Po Na Na Souk nightclub in 1991," Barnes said."That event isn't depicted in Straight Outta Compton, but I don't think it should have been, either. The truth is too ugly for a general audience."
