Kate Upton Ends String of Celebrity Prom Dates, Turns Down Boy Saying 'Too Busy'

| By

When Kate Upton was asked by high school senior Jake Davidson via YouTube if she would go to the prom with him, she responded via Twitter that she'd "check [her] schedule." It sounded like a noncommittal answer, even if it seemed to get the boy's hopes up, not to mention the hopes of gossip magazines everywhere.

It seems that sense has caught up with Upton, who said to People magazine that she probably can't make it to Davidson's prom.

Asking someone famous, or pseudo-famous, on a date via YouTube has run the gamut from Mila Kunis to Justin Timberlake (both went to a Marine's ball). UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste accepted a prom date with 18-year-old Conner Cordova, a high school senior from Colorado.

Upton joins the ranks of Tim Tebow and other less-publicized celebrities who have either turned down or ignored out-of-the-blue requests to go on a date. And this could be a good development, as the mention of someone racking up YouTube hits to get a date with a celebrity always sounds a bit awkward and opportunistic.

Davidson did give it a good try though. In his video, he shaves and showers and reads Kate's swimsuit edition magazine cover, listing the reasons why they would be compatible. In a later interview, he was not so eloquent, simply stating that he chose Upton because she was "pretty." Regardless, the video was an entertaining distraction for scores of people, and seemed to pique Kate's interest, if only for a moment. Perhaps it will work better if Davidson makes a video for one of his fellow students.

Here is the original YouTube video from Davidson for your enjoyment:
