Ralph Lauren Corporation, a global leader in the design, marketing and distribution of premium lifestyle products announced last week in a press release that the company's PoloTech smartshirt will be available in the market on Aug. 27, 2015.

The smartshirt comes with a real-time biometric technology and an adaptive workout app.

David Lauren, executive vice president of Ralph Lauren's Global Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications, said in the press release that the PoloTech shirt will give consumers the knowledge they "can use to lead a better life."

"This is a bridge between technology, fitness and style that approaches wellness and well-being in comprehensive and complementary ways," he said. "It will touch many parts of your life."

The smartshirt combines its sensory receivers with its fitness app to provide the wearer with accurate data of its body, including heart rate and variability, breathing depth and recovery, intensity of movement, energy output and stress levels, steps taken and calories burned, according to the press release.

This will help wearers to tailor fit their workout routine with the dynamics of their body to achieve maximum workout results.

The workout app provides analysis of the wearer's data during workouts and suggests workout routines based on the biometrics that the wearer is showing, according to the press release.

The app also offers live fitness monitoring, reporting and a unique "push rate," rating exertion, power and effort.

The workout app is available, so far, to iPod Touch fifth generation and above, or iPhone with iOS 8 and up, according to the press release.

The information from the biometric streams directly to the user's iPhone, iWatch, or iPod Touch.

The Verge added that Ralph Lauren first showed the biometric shirt in last year's US Open tennis tournament, using ball boys to wear the shirt.

Marcos Giron, one of the top ranking players, also wore the shirt during practice.

The PoloTech will be available to consumers for the price of $295, according to The Verge.

The price was revealed during a preview event in New York City last Aug. 20.
