Adam Rodriguez has joined "Empire" season 2 cast as romantic interest for Taraji P. Henson's Cookie Lyon.

With her estrange husband now in jail, Cookie now has more freedom to make her heart happy.

Cookie is not the only one getting a romantic partner.

Note: the other character who is about to get butterflies in the stomach is someone who stood mostly in the shadows of Lucius Lyon (Terrence Howard) and Cookie.

Variety reported "Sons of Anarchy" actor Mo McRae has joined "Empire" season 2 cast who will swoon Gabourey Sidibe's Becky Williams, the secretary of Lucius in Empire Entertainment.

"'Empire' has cast Mo McRae to appear in season two, Variety has learned exclusively. He will do a three-episode arc, playing a love interest for Becky," the entertainment website wrote.

"The character's name is J-Poppa, who's described as a handsome, easygoing guy who is seeing Becky, assistant to Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) at Empire Entertainment. J-Poppa also develops a strong connection with Andre (Trai Byers)."

McRae joins an already star-studded "Empire" season 2 cast that includes music and film's biggest names. Among them are Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, and more.

Previous reports say, "Empire" season 2 premiere will pick up just a few months after the events of first season's finale. Lucius is in jail but he still receives plenty of support inside. In fact, there will be a series of concerts to be held urging authorities to free him.

"It helps to have friends in high places. Empire's imprisoned patriarch Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) will get the support of two very powerful real-life figures in the season 2 premiere: EW can exclusively reveal that Reverend Al Sharpton and fashion icon André Leon Talley will both appear when the Fox hit returns on Sept. 22," EW reported a couple of weeks ago.

"The pair will show their support for the embattled music CEO at an epic, outdoor "Free Lucious" concert, seen in promos for the show."
