[WATCH] The New ‘Heroes Reborn’ Promo Featuring New Character! Find Out More About Tommy Here

NBC and Tim Kring claimed that the "Heroes" reboot to premiere this Sept. 24 will be a sort of sequel for the original series but with a new element added to the mix.

In the new "Heroes Reborn" promo recently released by the station, a new character is introduced as well as his impressive powers.

In the 30-second teaser, Tommy - played by "Once Upon A Time" actor - is an "awkward teenager who just wants to fit in and get with the girl that he pines for, Emily (Gatlin Green)," according to Comicbook.com. However, he soon discovers that he can teleport people away from him. He promptly starts developing his newfound skills.

Unfortunately, he gets hunted down by Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni), who are out to wipe out all of the EVOs (evolved humans) in the world.

As previous trailers for the new mini-series revealed, this new world that gifted individuals live in have already become unsafe for EVOs ever since Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) posted her own video showcasing her regenerative powers.

Tommy, as shown in the recent "Heroes Reborn" promo, will just be one of many individuals who get thrown into danger because of being different.

Meanwhile, a prequel for the series revival was released last month through the show's official app.

"Dark Matters," a six-episode webseries, revolved around the story of shadowmancer Phoebe Frady (Aislinn Paul). As her power grew stronger, she also found herself unable to fully control it. She was later tagged as a terrorist EVO, pushing her brother, Quentin (Henry Zebrowski) to seek help from Hero-Truther and Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman).

It looks like the rebooted series will still have the same concept as the original cult classic: seemingly "normal" individuals discovering and developing their superpowers.

On the other hand, returning cast member Greg Grunberg (who plays telepath Matt Parkman) called the revived show "like 'Heroes' on steroids" during the San Diego Comic Con Panel last July. Could this second version be more elaborate than the first?
