Following Apple's unveiling of iOS 9, the iPad Pro and WatchOS 2, Microsoft announced it has developed new features for its Office apps which includes multitasking and intelligent search, among others.

"Thanks to iOS9's support for multitasking, you'll be able to use two Office apps simultaneously on the same screen, and switch between them or copy content over in a pinch," TheNextWeb said.

Last month, Franchise Herald explained how multitasking features slide over, split view and picture-in-picture worked.

With the new feature, users can now write tasks in OneNote while check their email on Outlook at the same time, according to the official Office blog.

Alternatively, users can make a PowerPoint presentation while glancing at their notes on Word privately.

"All of the apps will also be getting inking features, which will allow you to make annotations or scribble on top of documents using the new Apple Pencil, as well as more intelligent search functionality for OneNote content and Outlook email," Lifehacker said.

Apart from supporting iPad iOS 9 multitasking, Microsoft said the Office apps update also has something in store for Apple Watch users.

Reportedly, Outlook will now be able to display important information on the Apple Watch's display. Calendar appointments can be checked using the Time Travel feature which is activated by turning the Digital Crown.

Additionally, Microsoft Translator for the iPhone and Apple Watch will also be updated to make communicating overseas easier.

"When you're abroad, the watch face will automatically show you common phrases like 'good morning' and 'goodbye' in the local language based on your location and time and day," Microsoft said.

The tech giant said multitasking and other features will roll out for Word, Excel, OneNote, Translator, PowerPoint and Outlook when the iPad Pro, WatchOS 2 and iOS 9 become available - that's November for the tablet and Sept. 16 for the new OS.
