What's about to happen in "NCIS" season 3?
That's the question most fans need an answer for.
While showrunners wanted to keep everything in the wraps as much as possible, it will not hurt to give fans some spoilers.
Apparently, bits of information being released is slowly fueling a speculation that Agent DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) is going to take over "NCIS."

With Special Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) seriously injured, he will reportedly need help from his friend and trusted protege, Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo.
In an interview with TV Fanatic showrunner Gary Glasberg dropped the bomb on what's about to happen to Agent Gibbs this season.
Apparently, fans will get to see major changes in Mark Harmon's character after the last incident in season 12.

"He's shot in the chest, he has his knee replaced," Glasberg explained. "It's an eye opener for him because the Gibbs character literally has to step back and say 'how many more lives does this cat have?' How much more can he live through and if he isn't around to take care of his family, then what happens to his family?"
As "NCIS" season 13 progress, Glasberg promises more progress in Gibbs and DiNozzo's story.
"That's what we're going to see as the season progresses is you're going to see a change in Gibbs."
Adding, "You're going to see a physical change and an emotional change and Mark Harmon is really diving into that and making it unique. It's been exciting to watch and we've got some really emotional stuff coming up from him."
And as Agent Gibbs battle his depression, DiNozzo will immediately take over the team causing possible rift between the partners.
"Gibbs and Tony are really going to feel some tension between the two of them," he said. Gibbs is putting tremendous pressure on Tony. Having survived this, Gibbs really wants to know if this is what Tony wants. Does he want to be the leader? Does he want to be, in essence, to become Gibbs?"
As for more "NCIS" season 13 spoilers, the official synopsis to the series claims that Agent DiNozzo will be traveling to Shanghai "to try and taked down the Calling" without Agent Gibbs in tow.
"After being shot, Gibbs fights for his life aboard a Navy hospital ship, while DiNozzo and Joanna travel to Shanghai to try and take down the Calling."
Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly teased "NCIS" season 13 spoilers to TV Fanatic saying, "I think they're going to blow shit up this season. And I mean like blow up character stuff. I think they're going to subvert expectation. I don't think this is another year of here is your standalone episode and I think this is the year when you get uncomfortable."
"NCIS" season 13 premiere episode will debut on Sept. 22 at 8pm on CBS.
