Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop Uses Google Glass For Employee Training

Capriotti's Sandwich Shop is using new "Google Glass" for employee training, according to Restaurant News.

"Using Google Glass, we are blending technology with food service to create unique, impactful training videos that we think will really be a hit with our employees," Capriotti's CIO, CMO, and Executive VP Jason Smylie told Restaurant News. "Our training program is key for Capriotti's team members to guarantee our customers with fresh food and great service.

"We anticipate a great response from our staff about the updated instructional videos and hope the new program will lead to even more satisfied customers," he said.  

According to Restaurant News, Smylie chose to acquire Google's state-of-the-art glasses as part of the technology company's promotion, "If I had Glass," which will allow the company's employees to see how a sandwich is made. People being trained will then be able to look back at footage to see how they can improve their performance the company said on its website.

The new gadget enhanced the training experience for Smylie and his team who are also taking advantage of technology to further emphasize Capriotti's commitment to being a successful operation Restaurant News reported.

Capriotti's has also advanced its technology in other areas such as replacing the franchise's operations manuals with iPad devices Restaurant News reported.

The Las Vegas-based sandwich chain is known for its award-winning creation known as the "the Bobbie," which has mayo, in-house roasted turkey, and stuffing and cranberry sauce Restaurant News reported.

The company, founded in 1976, which slow-roasts Turkey serves cold, grilled, and vegetarian sub sandwiches along with cheese steaks and salads, available at over 80 locations the company owns in twelve states Restaurant News reported.

These include: Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin and Nevada Restaurant News reported.
