Has George R.R. Martin finally revealed the "Winds of Winter" release date?

Apparently, no but his editor did.

According to The Week, Alejo Cuervo, the editor of Ediciones Gigamesh, told Lossie Tereinos, that the "Winds of Winter" will definitely shed light to the cliffhanger ending of "A Dance of Dragons," which frustrated many fans of the best-selling novel.

"The difference between the release dates of the Spanish version and the English version are not expected to be much, as the manuscript will be made available to the Spanish publishers well before the book is out in the market," the article said.

While he did not specifically reveal the exact release date of "Winds of Winter," he assured fans that it will happen next year "unless a meteor should fall."

"It's planned for next year," Cuervo assured. "They have promised us that they will give us the manuscript before the release date in English, but it won't be a big difference [between the dates]."

Come to think of it, George R.R. Martin previously told Entertainment Weekly in an earlier interview that he's looking into releasing "Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs, which is reportedly happening in April.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

In line with the release date news, George R.R. Martin is said to keep some of the dead characters in "Game of Thrones" alive for "Winds of Winter."

Immediately, fans started to speculate more of hoped that Jon Snow will survive in the next novel, but then again, Martin reportedly warner fans that "not all (characters will survive). So don't get compalcent."

Instead he did reveal the fate of yet another supposed dead character in "Game of Thrones" in his Not a Blog post called "Off to Spokane," a fan asked him, "alright Mr. Martin, lets cut the crap, is Stannis alive or dead(?)."

The author without any hesitations replied, "In my books? Alive, beyond a doubt."

Meanwhile, Snow may be dead in "Game of Thrones," but his fate remains to be seen in the novel, and that is what fans are waiting to find out when the release date arrives.
