[WATCH] ‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Prologue Raises Questions Ahead Of Premiere; Will Davros Return?

In the run up to the "Doctor Who" season 9 premiere, the BBC released a prologue which has some Whovians convinced that Davros and The Doctor will cross paths once again.

As seen in the video, Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor is once again on the planet Karn with Clare Higgins' Ohila. The Doctor has decided to finally confront an old enemy but before doing so, he gives Ohila a disk.

As Doctor Who Watch pointed out, it is a "confession dial" which contains "the last will and testament of the Doctor" that's already been seen in the trailer for the season 9 premiere episode.

"The Doctor tells Ohila she knows who to give it to; we know it ends up in Missy's hands, but there's no telling if she was [his] intended recipient or not."

The enemy teased in the "Doctor Who" season 9 prologue was never named but for fans, it could only be Davros. In an on-going online poll at Kasterborous, the creator of the Daleks leads who's servants are looking for The Doctor.

Still, others suggest it could be The Master, now The Mistress (Michelle Gomez). The enemy was described as someone The Doctor has known "for a very long time."

In any case, the Twelfth Doctor looks like he'll be facing someone dangerous in the season 9 premiere. Capaldi did share that the Doctor will "make a mistake that has cataclysmic repercussions," as Franchise Herald reported back in July.

That said, Radio Times can't help but ask if The Doctor will "die" again on season 9.

"Once more, it looks like [he] is facing 'certain' doom. 'Look after the universe for me," he says, 'I've put a lot of work into it.'"

To be clear though, the prologue is not the same as the prequel, titled "The Doctor's Meditation," showing on American theaters this week. The Doctor did hint in the video that he will meditate somewhere.

Perhaps it's a "prequel-to-the-prequel," as DWW put it.

Fans will get their answers soon enough on Sept. 19 at the "Doctor Who" season 9 premiere.
