Step aside, Zooey Deschanel, there's a "New Girl" joining the comedy TV show's season 5 cast - Megan Fox.

Nothing like a hottie that is Megan Fox to replace our favorite quirky girl, Zooey Deschanel in "New Girl's fifth season. But not to worry - Deschanel is only going to be absent for a few episodes for her maternity leave.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Megan Fox will be playing the role of "Reagan," a gorgeous straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft."

According to "New Girl" executive producer, Liz Merriwether, they had Megan Fox in mind from the very moment they wrote the part of "Reagan."

"It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it," Merriwether said. "I've been a fan of her comedic skills since 'This is 40,' and I'm so excited to have her on the show.  We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part - she's the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up."

Joining "New Girl's" season 5 cast is among Megan Fox's big commitments this year, aside from an upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sequel.

The actress had also just recently returned to her social media accounts after a long hiatus and following her divorce with Brian Austin Green.

In August, Merriwether revealed how they were able to explain Jess' (Deschanel's character) absence.

"Jess gets sequestered on a jury," Merriweather told the Hollywood Reporter. "The idea behind it was to be able to do those pastel courtroom sketches, so you could still see her in the jury. It's a little weird, but we're having fun with it."

The executive producer also said that Deschanel's absence in the first few episodes of season 5 will give the audience a chance to get to know the other characters more.

"I directed the first episode without Zooey, that's the last one we shot this year, and it's really funny," Merriweather said. "It's a guys' episode. It's an opportunity to stretch ourselves... Or it will be a total disaster, and then she'll come back."

Deschanel gave birth to her first baby last month and secretly got married to her long-time boyfriend Jacob Pechenik in June.
