'Scandal' Season 5 Premiere Spoiler: Mellie Will Start From Nothing; Hillary Clinton Parallels Also On Radar

"Scandal" season 5 premiere is just a few days away and for the ABC series' fans, don't expect anything great from most the show's main characters.

Except for Olitz, everyone else are in their most down times and the one who is in a really tough situation is Mellie (Bellamy Young).

Young's character will feel alone more than ever in "Scandal" season 5 premiere as she is no longer in the White House. She and Pres.

Fritz Grant, who has an ongoing affair with lead character Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), decided to live away from each other and although she agreed to it, doesn't mean she is in a much better place.

"Our first episode back is a real kick in the teeth because I think it's the first time Mellie figures out that she's really alone," Young said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last week.

"She's burnt so many bridges for Fitz, for the sake of their relationship, for the sake of this administration - and it's similar with Cyrus - so for them to be banished from the White House makes them realize they're like turtles without shells. They have nothing because they've sold their souls to stay where they are, and she realizes she has to build something for herself."

"Scandal" has a lot of similarities in real-life events. The most notable of which is the infidelity of the the US president. Hillary Clinton was betrayed by then POTUS Bill Clinton who had an affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Now, she is running for presidency. The new season will take the parallelism into another level. The same can happen to the fate of Mellie who for last seasons garnered solid sympathy from the audiences.

"It starts with Mellie's newfound place in the Senate, which she successfully earned last season (albeit at the cost of a few dozen murdered jurors)," EW wrote following it up with a quote from series creator Shonda Rhimes.

"She'll set her eyes on the presidency, although there are still two more years in Scandal's storyline before those Hillary Clinton comparisons could happen. "That's not the intention, although I reserve the right to change my mind at any time," teases Rhimes."

"Scandal" season 5 premiere is on Sept. 24.
