Shaquille O’Neal To Son: Learn Basketball From Anthony Davis; After Saying He Can Beat Him

Sep 24, 2015 12:04 AM EDT | By Jason Fonbuena

Fans have certainly taken notice of Shaquille O'Neal's son Shareef but instead of pushing him to adopt his game, the NBA legend encouraged his son to learn basketball from Anthony Davis.

"I told him to watch Anthony because he's probably going to be the same height and have the same type of build," O'Neal said as quoted by the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

"Not skinny, but long."

Davis is currently playing for the New Orleans Pelicans as the team's power forward or center. The two-time All-Star has proven himself as one of the up and coming players to watch out for.

"He's probably the best at that position. He can run, rebound, dominate, take over games. He's going to do his thing this year," O'Neal added.

Shaq may be all praises for Davis but this wasn't always the case. Just last month, Uproxx reported that the Big Aristotle thought the rising star wouldn't be a challenge to him. The website quoted him saying that he's "too little for [him]. That's barbeque chicken down there."

As for Shaquille O'Neal's son Shareef, the 15-year-old, who stands at six feet eight inches, does have basketball talent in his own right.

"Unlike his father, the younger O'Neal has [a] mid-range game, capable of scoring from the perimeter and can handle the ball," NOTP said.

Apart from Davis, Shareef is reportedly learning from Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James as well.

Despite being just a sophomore at Windward School in Los Angeles, Shareef is said to have received scholarship offers from UCLA and USC. Shaq expects more to come but said he'll let his son decide for himself.

"I won't steer him along. He's got to find his way. He's a big guy that can shoot it," he said.
