John Schaufelberger has been named Red Robin's new vice president of brand marketing.

Schaufelberger will oversee the company's advertising, media, national promotions, communications, and in-store merchandising according to a press release on Red Robin's website.

"John is a tremendous addition to the Red Robin team as we continue to transform Red Robin into an industry-leading casual dining brand," said Denny Marie Post, Red Robin senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "His leadership experience in marketing, both in the U.S. and overseas and in both quick service and casual dining, make John an ideal fit for the Red robin team today and into the future."

Schaufelberger has over 20 years of national and international experience in helping other franchise restaurants develop and execute their brand, programming and media planning, innovation, and new concept development the company stated in a press release.

The restaurant industry veteran has previously been Applebee's vice president of marketing communications where he created an integrated marketing calendar for the chain, and made plans to help launch the company's new brand in order to improve sales.

Schaufelberger also led a region-wide marketing team to help Burger King strengthen and raise same store sales and traffic as its vice president of marketing and communication in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Before Burger King, Schaufelberger was involved in marketing for Arby's restaurant association, after having previously initiated his career at Foote, Cone and Belding Advertising in different capacities particularly with Taco Bell's account.
