Chris Pratt Not Leaving 'Jurassic World' Sequel Despite Director Colin Trevorrow's Exit

Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard Dallas, the huge success of "Jurassic World" in the box office had the sequel ensured.

However, despite the amazing feat, director Colin Trevorrow had decided to step down from the franchise as its helmer.

In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 39-year-old highly acclaimed filmmaker compared his opus to the cult favorite "Star Wars" where there are different directors responsible for the success of the franchise.

"Jurassic Park is like Star Wars," Trevorrow reportedly said. "Different directors can give a different taste to each movie."

He did however assure fans that he'll still be involved in "Jurassic World" sequel despite stepping away from the directorial chair.

"I would be involved in some way, but not as director." he said of his involvement for the upcoming films.

His statement immediatedly caused speculations that there's a chance that Chris Pratt would exit from the "Jurassic World" sequel.

However, talking to Jurassic Cast Podcast, director Colin Trevorrow insisted that the lead stars including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both returning to reprise their roles in the franchise.

"We made ['Jurassic World'] with the fans very much in mind and I'm not going to forget that. But we've seen a lot of 'dinosaurs chasing people around on an island' movies," Trevorrow explained.

"And I think you guys and the general audience are going to be down to explore where else we can go. Owen is going to be in it, Claire is in it and neither are going to be in the same place we left them in the first movie."

Additionally, Trevorrow shared how he envisioned "Jurassic World" to become a new trilogy from the original planned two-part sequel as he quoted a "Jurassic Park" line.

"I did look at it as a trilogy from the very beginning and we designed the whole thing that way," he started his explanation.

"Honestly? The trilogy is articulated in 'Jurassic Park' [quotes]. 'Jurassic World' is all based on Ian Malcolm's quote, 'You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you knew what you had, you'd packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox and now you want to sell it.' That to me IS 'Jurassic World.' That's why I had all the product placement, that's what it was. The second one - 'Jurassic World 2' - we tried to find the foundation: 'dinosaurs and man separated by 65 million years of evolution have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?' That's me paraphrasing."

Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, "Jurassic World" sequel is set to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
