Will Prince William And Kate Middleton Ever Dress Their Children Up Like North West?

Oct 07, 2015 09:30 PM EDT | By Pam Amantiad

Prince William and Kate Middleton won't be dressing their youngest daughter, Princess Charlotte, up in the latest fashionable baby dresses anytime soon.

Instead, the 4-month-old tot will be donning onesies right up to her first birthday.

According to Rachel Riley, the Duchess of Cambridge's favorite children's clothes designer, the fourth-in-line to the British throne won't be starting a trend for baby dresses until she turns one.

"Because they're a traditional family, I'm sure that she'll wear baby suits for the first year, and then only when she's walking will she then move into dresses," Riley reportedly told People. "Even in terms of separates, I don't think she'll be wearing separates until much later."

Aside from the traditional gown she wore for her christening, the little princess will be sticking to one-piece baby clothes for the rest of the year.

This didn't seem to have stopped grandma Carole Middleton from browsing through clothes for her youngest grandchild, however. E! News spotted Prince William's mother-in-law in a children's clothing store, looking though sweaters and dresses for little girls.

On the other hand, Princess Charlotte's older brother, Prince George, started several fashion trends with his adorable outfits that looked remarkably like his father's own toddler clothes. Are Prince William and Kate Middleton aiming to bring back classic trends?

According to Mark Borkoswki, a public relations expert, that's not necessarily the case.

"There's something rather beautiful in the fact that the pictures could have been taken in the 1920s, 1930s, in fact any decade up until the present day. It's greatly reassuring," he reportedly told the BBC. "The duke and duchess are not trying to make a fashion statement, but to dress George timelessly."

Although the royal couple had been subtly defying royal protocol since they married, they're still a fairly traditional family.

"Could you imagine the outrage if they tried to make sure their children kept up with those of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian?" Borkowski added.

It would certainly be odd to see Prince George or Princess Charlotte decked in all black like the West's eldest daughter, North.
