With the new season comes new danger and it looks like Klaus will have to deal with this new threat on his own.

Fuelled by his own paranoia and distrust even for his own siblings, he managed to snap the patience of everyone around him.

He compelled Elijah's new girlfriend to burn herself, forced Rebecca to kill the body she's been occupying, enraged Davina, and allowed Hayley to get cursed just to fool their power-hungry aunt, Dahlia, into trusting him enough for him to kill her once and for all.

His plan to keep his daughter, Hope, did work but at the expense of his family's already fragile trust in him being broken.

Now that a new group of vampires - who all have a grudge on the originals - are descending on New Orleans, will he be able to make bring get his family to fight with him again?

Daniel Gillies, who plays Klaus' brother Elijah, told Zap2It about what kind of father the writers wanted to portray him as.

"They've written him in such a way that he's so malevolent and so unpredictable that there's just no way - the way they've designed the character - that he can represent anything safe or good to that child," he shared.

"They're brazenly saying, "Here's your hero. He's the king of the kingdom that you love to watch and he's a piece of s***," he continued. However, there are certain scenes of Klaus being tender with Hope that shows he does have it in him to be good, or at least, fatherly.
