Following the season opener last week brothers Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) move on with their life in Mystic Falls.
The Heretics will definitely play a bigger role in this season with Lily Salvatore (Annie Wersching) determined to take revenge from her sons.
After breaking the truce between Stefan and Lily, Damon would need to make it up to his mother to avoid anymore troubles in Mystic Falls.
But Lily is determined to do everything to avenge the death of Malcolm (Justice Leak) in the hands of Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham). She will use Caroline Forbes (Candice King) as her pawn for her revenge.
Now, Caroline's life is in danger with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Heretics Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) torturing her.
Meanwhile, Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) will discover a mysterious artifact while Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) will have to make a life or death decision.
Tonight's episode will also see a three-year jump, where a new female character, whose role is reportedly going to be a threat to the brothers, will be introduced.
