'Outlander' Season 2 Cast News: EP Maril Davis Addresses Brianna Rumors

Oct 24, 2015 11:58 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

Most recent "Outlander" season 2 cast news revealed Brianna is coming to the Starz TV series, probably the biggest casting news so far.

Brianna is the daughter of Jamie McKenzie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe).

When this news broke out, a lot of fans made their recommendations. Even actor Sam Heughan pitched in for "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner to play the role of the red-headed, 20-something Brianna.

The name linked constantly to this latest "Outlander" season 2 casting news was Irish newcomer Maeve Foley.

It seems the search for Brianna will continue as executive producer Maril Davis debunked rumors Foley already got the role.

"For those asking any & all REAL casting news will only come from official source like @Outlander_Starz or @sony or sometimes a producer," she wrote in a Twitter Q&A session she held with fans.

It is hard to blame fans for assuming Foley will play Brianna since the newcomer fits the part. She is around 20 years old and has red hair.

"Irish beauty Maeve Foley, who describes herself as a dancer, actress and model on Twitter, has already been welcomed to the show's cast by 'Outlander' fans," the British publication wrote on Foley's casting.

"However, the 22-year-old's role on the show has not yet been confirmed."

Arrival of Brianna was first reported by TV Line last August.

"The official character description describes Brianna as a young 20-something American who's "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor (traits inherited from both her mother and father," TV Line reported last month.

"She also has a scholastic mindset, with a healthy dose of American strength, having been born and bred in Boston under the watchful eye of professor and historian Frank Randall."

Aside from Brianna, other additions in "Outlander" season 2 cast are Dominique Pinon as Master Raymond, Audrey Brisson as Sister Angelique, Lionel Lingelser as King Louis XV of France, Romann Berrux as Fergus, and Marc Duret as Joseph Duverney.

"Outlander" season 2 air date is expected to be around March or April next year.
