NBA News: Rose, Butler Put Rift And Trade Rumors To Rest With An Expensive Gift

Oct 28, 2015 02:55 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

There were several NBA trade rumors involving Derrick Rose which stems from several issues.

One of which is his reported beef with improving teammate Jimmy Butler.

The duo rarely talks about their alleged rift or any of the NBA trade rumors. However, if their actions behind the press are to be judged, it should be clear to basketball followers by now that they don't have any grudges against each other.

In fact, the 2011 MVP is so happy for the achievements of his teammate that he gave him a watch that could amount to a one-year contract of a rookie free agent.

"In early September, as the Bulls started trickling in before training camp for informal workouts, Derrick Rose casually and quietly presented Jimmy Butler with a gift," the Chicago Tribune revealed.

"So Rose gave his backcourt mate a designer watch with a price tag college-tuition-paying parents would recognize."

Rose also commented on the reported rift between him and Jimmy Butler who won last season's Most Improved Player Award.

"That's so far from the truth. We don't even talk about it," he said. "It's people just nitpicking our team, trying to start something. I look at Jimmy like a little brother. I wish him nothing but the best. I encourage him every time he's in the game and want him to have that confidence like he has."

There are NBA trade rumors saying Chicago Bulls will ship Rose to Los Angeles Lakers. However, neither of the two teams confirmed they had such discussion.

Derrick Rose is set to start for his team's opener versus against Eastern Conference rivals Cleveland Cavaliers lead by Lebron James after getting injured in the pre-season. The spitfire point guard said he is "glad to be back playing."

Although he will start, newly-instilled coach Fred Hoiberg said they will be a little careful with D.Rose and "play it by how he feels out there."
