Snowden's 'Mr. Robot' Admiration Is Vote Of Confidence For Esmail For Season 2 Release

"Mr. Robot" season 2 release date is reportedly by June or July next year, which is not surprising since USA Network made its debut this year on the same period.

Here is what surprising. While "Mr. Robot" is a hit among critics and the public, it has found another admirer from a person show's creator and writers expect the least.

Edward Snowden, the former government contractor who leaked classified information from the United States National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013, is revealed to be an admirer of the show and "Mr. Robot" cast gushed about this.

Of all people, Snowden has the rights to criticize "Mr. Robot" if it depicts the hacking world wrong. The former government agent, who now resides in Russia, gave thumps up to the show and series creator Sam Esmail says it is a vote confidence for them going forward.

"That was a huge vote of confidence," he said as per report by the Guardian.

"A lot of times there was this fear that [the subject matter] would feel too inaccessible to an audience, so they'd throw in some CGI graphics or the ridiculous 'big red [downloading] bar' to water it down."

"Mr. Robot" cast Rami Malek thinks Snowden's approval means they are doing great with the depiction of the subject matter.

"I just found out Edward Snowden's a huge fan of the show," Malek said. "When you realize how much he knows about government spying tactics... it feels like we're doing a very accurate job."

There is no confirmation of "Mr. Robot" season 2 release date yet but the plot is somewhat already laid out. Elliot's mission to take down Evil Corp is just the tip of the ice berg. They've got a more massive enemy when they return.

"Now that the hack has happened, I actually think it's not just Evil Corp that will be," Esmail told The Hollywood Reporter.

"If you want to call them antagonists, of fsociety. Now we're dealing with a much larger issue, and I think the law enforcement, in some way, will make a presence in season two, which I think is going to be an interesting new group of characters to explore."
