It's Not Dead: Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Rematch Can Still Happen

Oct 30, 2015 12:24 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch is not dead.

At least from the camp of the Filipino fighter who lost to Pretty Boy in May this year via unanimous decision.

"I don't know yet who's my opponent next but we're still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that," the 36-year-old Filipino fighter revealed on a video he posted on his official Facebook page.

Chances of a Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch dwindled over the past months as the two camps' discussion turned from good to worse because of several issues. More importantly, Floyd fought and won against Andre Berto in September and then retired with a 49-0 record to tie Rocky Marciano's win-loss slate.

The two camps initially OK'd a rematch but then Floyd backtracked his interests after Pacman claimed he fought the American fighter with an injured shoulder.

Right now, the chances of the two getting back on the boxing ring is still slim as Floyd Mayweather is persistent that he will not come back. Also, this is the last chance the two boxing greats can meet again as Pacman decided April 2016 will be his last fight. This news was also confirmed by Top Rank CEO and Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum.

"I'm telling you what he told me last week at dinner in New York," Arum told ESPN. "We talked very seriously, and he said, 'Bob, hopefully, by the middle of May I will have been elected senator in the Philippines, and at that point I cannot engage in boxing because I need to focus on the senate and I have to be in attendance.'"

Arum thinks Pacquiao's boxing career will get in the way of Manny's political ambitions.

"There are hundreds of congressmen, but if he wins the senate seat he has to be there to do the work," added Arum who even thinks Pacquiao will be a good senator. "They do the real work in the senate in the Philippines, not just make a lot of bulls--- speeches like they do in the congress. It's a real job, and if Manny is serious about wanting to be president, these six years in the senate would be like an audition and for him to show his people that he really is a serious politician."

With time running out for both fighters, Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch happen?
