Amir Khan Wants Another Shot At Olympics, Says There Is A Great Chance He'll Fight As Pro There

Amir Khan's next fight is currently still in negotiations, with Manny Pacquiao and Kell Brook among those making the bigger noise.

Although he is excited about his next fight, which he claims is his way to become the next big one in boxing, he has his eyes on another goal.

The British boxer says he wants to fight in the Olympics again and it seems things are falling into right places for him as he claims AIBA, the world's governing body for amateur boxing, is studying options of sending pros in the particular sports event.

"The AIBA wants professional boxers to work with AIBA and they will allow them to go to Olympics," he told Boxing Scene.

"So imagine, I may have a second chance at the Olympics. That will be amazing and massive because everybody wants to go to Olympics."

Khan was the youngest British to join Olympics boxing at the age of 17. He represented Britain in the 2004 Athens Olympics lightweight boxing category wherein he lost in the battle for gold.

For the upcoming Olympic events, Khan thinks it is good to see amateurs and pros collide in a fight in the world's biggest sports stage.

"I have heard that they are changing the rules and this would a great thing because pro boxers want to compete in the Olympics," he said.

"I think it's very good that they are (thinking of) bringing amateur and professional boxers together because end of the day it's boxing and people want to watch good fights."

Amir Khan's next fight is reportedly against Manny Pacquiao who happened to be his former sparring mate. Top Rank CEO and Pacman's promoter Bob Arum said it will be a choice between Khan and current WBO junior-welterweight champion Terence Crawford for the Filpino fighter.

Khan believes he is the frontrunner to land the boxing fight against the former pound-for-pound king who says April 2016 will be his last.

"I am the front-runner," Khan told BBC Sport.

"Manny Pacquiao makes a good story because we've been training partners and I've been with his coach Freddie Roach. There's a big chance of the fight happening, it's all about making sure my team is on point with the deal and they need to make sure they get the fight that I want."
