Sprint Free Talk And Text Plan: Students Eligible For Offer With Phone Purchase at Best Buy

Students who buy a Sprint phone from Best Buy until Jan. 4 receive a year of free talk, text, and data a Business Wire press release on the Sprint website reported Monday.

"We are excited about this groundbreaking approach to helping students connect to the latest wireless technology and to the advantages of today's mobile learning environment," Jeff Hallock, senior vice president of marketing for Sprint said in a statement. "As a market leader in consumer electronics committed to improving the customer experience and to lessening its impact on the environment, Best Buy is a perfect partner for Sprint in revolutionizing the way we bring new products and services to students."

The arrangement includes unlimited talk, text, and one gigabyte of data for students who want smartphones. Students can talk and text on an unlimited basis if they select a less complex device.

"This exclusive Sprint offer allows students to buy a new smartphone and get a year of free talk, text and data and several hundred dollars in savings," Scott Anderson, vice president of mobile phones for Best Buy said in a statement. "Our customers expect exclusive products from Best Buy and now they are getting exclusive mobile phone plans, too. It is a demonstration of our unique promise to customers."

According to CNET, students can visit Best Buy stores from Monday until Jan. 4 to get a feature phone, or smartphone for a median price of $530. There is also a $36 price to activate the device for Sprint's Unlimited, My Way plan. 

Students will then have 14 days to confirm that they are a student. They will then receive the promotion on their account. Students who need more than one gigabyte of data can add more for $10. Those who want a new phone can also swap one.
