Tonight's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will feature a depressing truth about Stefan's (Paul Wesley) former love Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore).
Stefan will find out that Valerie was pregnant with his child. However, the their reunion could threaten "Steroline."
Meanwhile, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will try to move on and from the death of Elena (Nina Dobrev).
Guest star, Annie Wesching playing the role of Lily on the other hand, is preparing for an arrival of a special figure in her life, while Enzo (Michael Malarkey) sticks around not knowing what to expect from the situation.
The sneak peek also showed Bonnie finding out a surprising detail about the Phoenix Stone, which led her to confront Alaric.
"In less than 24 hours, I raised two people from the dead with a sketchy spell and something called a Phoenix Stone. No research, no rehearsal time and no contingency plan," Bonnie explains in the sneak peek obtained by TV Guide. "And now that I have a little breathing room, I want to figure out what kind of magic I was dealing with just in case I opened up Pandora's box."
Meanwhile, executive producer Caroline Dries revealed that the impending breakup of Stefan and Caroline, which was revealed in flash-forwards will have something to do with Valerie.
"Valerie is part of the reason, but it's a much bigger, more emotional, legit reason ... It's beyond petty jealousy or Stefan cheating on Caroline or anything like that," she told TVLine. "This season is about [our characters] growing up and becoming adults ... [Stefan almost having a child in the past is] something he will be really be thinking about as we move forward in the season. He'll keep thinking, 'I could have been a dad.' We had many ideas [for their backstory], but we felt this was the most symbolic and thematic."
