Franchise Herald has some ways individuals can alleviate conflict if it arises during Thanksgiving Dinner.

If someone says words or does something that gets on your nerves just ignore it, be polite, and keep to yourself.

Thanksgiving and Christmas only come once a year so it is important to be nice, and get along with everyone since family members do not see each other on a regular basis.

If family has gotten on your nerves at previous Thanksgivings, go to the family gathering with an open mind, and forgive and forget what has previously happened.

Some people have it hard, and may be dealing with stress or other burdens and obstacles you may not know about.

Individuals tend to learn something from another person who they have had a conflict with in the past. This creates growth, and allows the communication, and family member relationship to move forward.

If things get really hectic, arguers can remove themselves from the situation, and go into a different room or area of the house.

If a board game, cards, or game consoles are around, play a game with the cousins.

If none are around, take five breaths, and remain calm. This can help the other person also relieve stress, and realize the situation is not all that bad. The chances are good the person will see you are listening and appreciate it.

Sorry, Scrabble, and I Spy are good ones to play. There is also Wii which any member of the family can play. These games include Tennis, and baseball.

Offer to spend more time with the family member other than the holiday. This can create less tension, decrease frustration, and allow the conflict to subside and go away.

Go see a movie with them on their birthday, or view fireworks on the Fourth of July.
