Pittsburgh McDonald's Employee Sells Heroin From Workplace; Caught Through Undercover Transaction

A McDonald's employee reportedly sold Heroin from one of the company's locations Wednesday according to police ABC television affiliate in Pittsburgh WTAE reported Friday.

Theodore Levon Upshaw was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to deliver, and delivery of heroin WTAE reported.  

Upshaw reportedly sold the drug from the restaurant and the parking lot on Route 22 CBS local television affiliate in Pittsburgh KDSK reported.

"Distributing or selling heroin from the restaurant,"  Tom Kusinsky of the Murrysville Police department told CBS KDKA in Pittsburgh "He was doing it right there at the McDonald's. The process at which he took, I'm not sure of," Kusinsky told KDKA.

Detectives from the Allegheny County District Attorney's Narcotics Enforcement Team used a secret individual to buy the drug from Upshaw in the parking lot outside of the restaurant WTAE reported. The informant reportedly bought heroin in the restaurant in the past WTAE reported.

Upshaw was incarcerated at the Westmoreland County on $50,000 cash bond Thursday WTAE reported.

Upshaw resided at a special housing complex after being released ahead of schedule from a three-year prison sentence from the State Correctional Institution at the Mercer Pennsylvania Department of Corrections WTAE reported.

Three McDonald's locations in Wisconsin were reportedly the site of other drug sales at restaurants in October The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reported.

Owner Edward Patterson was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, money laundering and possession with intent to deliver according to the indictment in United States District Court covering the Eastern District of Wisconsin The Journal-Sentinel reported.

Patterson reportedly put over $12,000 in bank accounts meant for each franchise location The Journal Sentinel reported.

Five other individuals reportedly acquired big amounts of marijuana via California to deliver throughout Milwaukee The Journal Sentinel reported.

The individuals reportedly kept the marijuana, packaged, and prepared the leafy substance for delivery. Patterson also reportedly tried to give out oxycodone, and methadone, according to the indictment The Journal Sentinel reported.

Police administered 15 search warrants related to the arrests coming up with many pounds of  marijuana, 11 firearms, and $90,000 in cash The Journal Sentinel reported.
