The word password fell from first to second place of Splash Data's yearly collection containing the 25 most used passwords online a press release reported Monday. Password also dropped to worst password the press release reported.

The password combination 123456 moved up to first place the press release reported. Other passwords were qwerty, abc123, 111111, and iloveyou the press release reported. Information came from passwords put online by Stricture Consulting Group, a security consulting firm, after Adobe's security breach that affected 2.9 million customers.

It's compilation of most used passwords indicates several are not good since they can be accessed without effort the press release reported.

"As always, we hope that with more publicity about how risky it is to use weak passwords, more people will start taking simple steps to protect themselves by using stronger passwords and using different passwords for different websites," SplashData said in a statement the press release reported..

"Seeing passwords like 'adobe123' and 'photoshop' on this list offers a good reminder not to base your password on the name of the website or application you are accessing," Morgan Slain, CEO at SplashData said in a statement.

"Another interesting aspect of this year's list is that more short numerical passwords showed up even though websites are starting to enforce stronger password policies," Slain told SplashData.

The Adobe breach was found by Adobe's security team on the company's network, and may be connected.

In addition to the information, hackers also reportedly got a hold of source codes for at least two of the software company's major products Adobe said in October.

Adobe reset the passwords of customers affected, notifying customers whose credit or debit card information were taken, informing banks of the situation, and notified federal law enforcement as part of its efforts to correct the issue.

SplashData makes the SplashID Safe line of password management applications the press release reported.
