Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Firmware Update Fixes Prior Technical Difficulties

Microsoft's Surface Pro 2 tablet computer update corrects the smartphone's previous technical difficulties PC World reported Monday.

"This weekend we released an update that addresses the unexpected wake and battery drain behavior experienced by a small number of Surface Pro 2 customers who installed the December Windows Update," Waggener Edstrom Communications, Microsoft's public relations firm said in a statement PC World reported. "This should have no impact on customers who had not received the December update," Waggener said in the statement PC World reported. "We are working hard to deliver the rest of the

December update to those customers who had not received it prior to it being removed from distribution," the statement said PC World reported.

Some users had obtained a previous update December 10, but later experienced the Surface Pro 2's battery life was going down more rapidly compared to other times PC World reported.

Users also found the devices were not completely charging, and not displaying how much had been charged, and the amount left to go PC World reported.The tablet also would not totally shut down once a user folded its cover. It instead entered a power-saving sleep mode PC World reported. Sleep mode also didn't work when the the device was not in use PC World reported.Microsoft took away its Windows RT 8.1 update in October following complaints about devices locking up while users were operating them PC World reported.Microsoft's Surface 2 equipped with Windows RT 8.1 OS, and Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 came out in September in New York PC World reported.

The rest of the world then got them in October.Microsoft's Surface Pro 2 costs $899.00 on the company's website, and comes with a digital pen. The product line also include a Surface Tablet, and Surface 2 tablet according to information on the company's website.
