Samsung Galaxy Note 5 UK Release Date Tipped For Early 2016; Other European Markets To Follow

Dec 14, 2015 12:18 PM EST | By Jason Fonbuena

Multiple outlets reported the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 UK release date is set for late Jan. 2016. Other European markets will reportedly receive the Android phablet after.

Citing a trusted source from the South Korean tech firm, Gadgette said the Galaxy Note 5 will hit UK shores in late Jan. 2016.

"That's too late for Christmas, almost half a year later than the rest of the world got it, and right before they unveil their next Galaxy phone in February," the website said.

The piece was later updated as Samsung reportedly said their "larger-screen portfolio continues to centre on the Galaxy S6 edge+."

Checking with their own sources however, Android Central said the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 UK release date early next year is still on "with sales commencing in early 2016 in European markets."

As it stands though, Samsung has yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

Despite launching to the rest of the world earlier this year, Samsung has held off rolling out its latest entry in the Galaxy Note lineup in Europe and the UK. The reason behind this is currently unknown, according to AC.

According to iDigitalTimes, the tech firm "intentionally delayed" launching the Android phablet in a few markets "to prevent production issues and delays of [their] products."

Many consumers in the country were reportedly disappointed by the decision that UK carrier Clove even lodged a petition to urge Samsung to launch the device.

Per the website, an IHS analyst said the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ have different markets in mind. The former is allegedly aimed at enterprise-focused markets as it is a productivity device, after all. The latter meanwhile is aimed at "younger" and "fashion-forward" consumers being a multimedia device.

It remains to be seen if the alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 5 UK release date pushes through or not.
