Southwest Airlines International Routes Begin July 1; Three Flights to Tropical Locations

Southwest Airlines begins three new international routes July 1 a press release reported Monday.

Southwest begins service from Atlanta to Aruba, and Montego Bay. Baltimore Washington flights will go to Aruba, Nassau, Bahamas, and Montego Bay. Passengers will be able to fly to Aruba from Orlando on Saturdays, and Montego Bay seven days a week the press release reported.

"Beginning July 1, 2014, Bags Fly Free® beyond U.S. borders to Aruba, The Bahamas, and Jamaica," Gary Kelly,  chairman, president, and CEO said in a statement. "As our Customers seamlessly click through southwest.com to make these historic bookings today, our People celebrate the final lap in the journey to make possible our international future," Kelly said in the statement.

"Southwest Airlines democratized the sky from our first flights more than four decades ago," said Kelly. "Today's milestone enables us to reach new territory, new Customers, and build upon a four decade foundation of doing right by the travelers who trust our value and our People."

Southwest will also offer a one-way nonstop service to Washington, D.C. from Milwaukee for $89 from June 8, and June 30. One-way nonstop service to Akron-Canton, Ohio to Boston Logan, and to Seattle/Tacoma, and Portland from San Diego costs the same price. The flights from San Diego to Orlando, New Orleans, Portland Ore., and Seattle/Tacoma are part of the company's 32nd anniversary of flying out of San Diego's Lindbergh Field. The Portland flight is also new for the airline as it ventures into the Northwest. These include Baltimore, Washington's Reagan National Airport, Chicago's Midway Airport, and Houston's William P. Hobby Airport,

Ninety-nine dollars gets passengers to Akron-Canton from New York's LaGuardia Airport another press release reported.

Flights to Detroit from Atlanta, and Pittsburgh to the same destination cost $109. Atlanta to Minneapolis will be $129.

Orlando from Akron-Canton will be priced at $139. San Diego to Orlando, and San Diego to New Orleans will be priced at $149 the press release reported. Southwest is also offering more flights out of LaGuardia the press release reported.
