Chocolate Flavored Toothpaste: New Crest Product Hits Store Shelves Next Week

Mint-chocolate-flavored Crest toothpaste hits store shelves in February manufacturer Proctor and Gamble said in a post on its website Tuesday.

"You should see it in stores first week of February," Michelle Lohman, a spokeswoman for Crest told The Detroit Free Press.

Crest has added an ingredient normally found in dessert in attempt to liven up what some consider to be a boring task The Free Press reported. Consumers could previously only buy mint and cinnamon flavored toothpaste USA Today reported, but now have another selection to choose from.

"Crest is always looking at trends to develop products that give consumers a unique yet effective experience," Rishi Dhingra, Marketing Director at Procter and Gamble said in a statement. "Crest Be® was developed out of the research and insights that consumers are looking for experiential purchases," Dhingra said in the statement. "The new toothpastes not only provide the foundational benefits needed for oral health but allow for an unexpected experience through flavors that offer personal expression," Dhingra said in the statement.

The line includes Adventurous Mint Chocolate Trek, Dynamic Line Spearmint Zest, and Inspired Vanilla Mint Spark according to information Crest's website for the brand.

The product will be available in Canada soon after it is unveiled in the United States The Free Press reported.

"It's a way of reinvigorating interest in a brand," Lohman told The Free Press. "By having a variety of products, they keep consumers from switching," Lohman told The Free Press.

 "Daredevils, have we got a surprise for you," a statement on Crest's Be website said. "It's a whole new world of deliciousness for toothbrushes everywhere," the statement said. "And it's ready to take your mouth on an exhilarating ride. Better buckle up," the statement said.

Proctor and Gamble trails competitor Colgate by 20 - percent in shares USA Today reported.

Crest alone has raked in $2.3 billion in sales across the globe according to information from industry tracker Euromonitor International USA Today reported.
