Feb 06, 2014 12:15 PM EST | By Justin Stock

Amazon's recent acquisition of Double Helix video games will give consumers more selection to choose from at the online retailer.

Double Helix also makes fighting game Killer Instinct which is available for use on the Microsoft Xbox One video game console Game Spot reported.

"Our internal Killer Instinct team is still here and franchise is in good hands," Phil executive at Microsoft Studios Spencer said on Twitter. "We had a plan in place for this transition," Spencer said in a post on his Twitter account.

The acquisition was in the works for quite some time.

"I can't talk about specifics, but I wouldn't be there unless something cool was brewing," Erik Nylund a Halo writer at Amazon previously stated Game Spot reported.

The Xbox One has an improved kinect sensor, which enables players to operate the device just by talking. Individuals can also connect the console to their satellite television equipment in order to watch TV, and flip back and forth between gaming, and viewing shows USA Today reported. The Xbox 360 can also do the same.

The game console is the company's latest release since it launched its Xbox 360 in 2005, and follows Sony's PlayStation 4 game console a week prior Nov. 22.

PlayStation 4 has eight x86 CPU-codes titled Jaguar, and is manufactured from Advanced Micro Devices according to Network World. It also comes equipped with upgraded graphics co-processors capable of handling 1.84 teraflops of performance according to information from Tech Hive.

The machine has 500 gigabyte hard drive that can play blu-ray DVDs. There are also eight gigabytes of GDDR5 memory or quick network speed random access memory found in graphics cards. Game makers put 176 gigabytes of network speed a second on the machine since they wanted the computer to run faster.

Both game consoles were hard to come by during the latest holiday shopping season with many consumers having to go around to different stores to see if they had the machine in stock CNN reported.
